The conversation festival LAMPA announces this year’s programme, one month before the event. The festival, taking place July 1 – 2 in the Cesis castle park, will host almost 150 events in an array of formats and covering dozens of topics, organized by over 80 organizations associations and companies.
Debates, games, discussions, theatre performances, modern dance and intellectual entertainment will take place on 6 stages and in 12 tents. Conversations will be brewing in the tent city, and a glittering after-party with dancing and singing is on the festival agenda.
LAMPA will focus on the regional, inviting participants, for example, to the Latgale tent where for two full days Latgallians will share their pride of heritage.
LAMPA will also bring the international to Cesis, with a participants list of global reach. The festival will host a number of Nordic mayors, who together with their Latvian counterparts, will forecast the future of cities of our region.
“The programme on offer this year is amazingly broad and challenging, but among my favourite events is definitely the documentary performance organized by the association “Resource centre for women MARTA”. The documentary theatre performance ‘SEVEN” will present seven women’s’ life stories, presenting socio-political themes through an artistic prism. The actors will be Latvian opinion leaders. Also – I am sure that anyone interested in education should come to LAMPA – there will be in depth discussions and analysis from Latvian and Finnish education experts. This year even the smallest festival-goers will have their own miniLampa, so all family members can attend the festival.” remarks the Latvian public broadcasting cultural reporter, and Board member of the association ‘’Ascendum” Eva Ikstena. Ikstena was one of the evaluation committee members sifting through the over 100 event ideas submitted for the festival.
Festival entry is free. Accommodation is also free to participants wishing to pitch their tent in the tent city next to the Cesis castle park.
