Miķelis Grīviņš is a leading researcher at the Baltic Studies Centre. In 2012 he received his PhD from the University of Latvia and in 2018 was appointed Chairman of the Latvian Sociological Association. A year later Grīviņš became a member of the Committee of Social Sciences at the Latvian Council of Science. Miķelis Grīviņš leads the research and study group “Alternative Food Movements in Central and Eastern Europe” and serves as a consulting expert in Latvia and elsewhere in Europe. He has written publications on issues related to food initiatives, supply chains, wild products, agricultural financing and the specifics of Eastern European food supply practices.
