Dr.agr. Līvija Zariņa is a leading researcher at the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Economics, and the head of the Department of Agroecological Research. Scientific activity began in 1987. Her main research directions: ecologically and economically justified crop production technologies for various management systems (incl. organic and integrated), long-term soil quality research depending on crop rotation and fertilization systems, and research on biodiversity in rural ecosystems. The current active projects are related to the study of the efficiency of minimal soil tillage systems, testing of physical weed control methods, as well as involvement in the international project "European Biodiversity Monitoring in Agricultural Landscapes"(EMBAL).
