Olaf Groh-Samberg is professor of sociology at the University of Bremen (Germany) where he is heading the working group on „social, economic and cultural inequalities“ at the SOCIUM Research Center on Inequality and Social Policy. He gained his PhD at the University of Münster (Germany) in 2006 and until 2009 worked as a researcher at the DIW Berlin, to which he is still affiliated as a DIW Research Professor. He moved to Bremen in 2009. Since 2015 he is the Dean of the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) and since 2020 speaker of the newly founded Research Institute Social Cohesion (RISC). His main areas of expertise are inequalities, social stratification and social mobility in welfare societies.
